Yes you read correctly Scotland is the New Paris or the new Virginia, if you will. Maybe its the Glenfidditch, the haggis or the Irn Bru, or the sound of bag pipes blaring on the corner of Princes Street, Edinburgh. There is something magical that happens there, I can say this with personal experience and having witnessed some interesting happenings.
That is were I met my husband, while backpacking the Uk, and Ireland back in 2001, by myself. I was not looking for anything but a grand adventure for the three months I was there. Who knew it would still be going on after all this time! I wasn't the only one who met my future husband, another girl I met from Australia, met her now husband who happened to be Canadian.
It doesn't stop there, oh no. One of my closest friends who I met when I first moved to Banff, Alberta back in 2000. Actually she was one of the ones who encouraged me to grab my dream of travel and do it. This last year after doing two intense years of University in Ontario. She decided to apply for her third year abroad, her first choice was Scotland. To her this seemed like a great dream but didn't want to get her hopes up, as it was quite expensive to do this. Well she got the call to go, and sometimes you just can't miss out on an opportunity like that. I think she was there about two months and joined a hiking group to meet a few new people. Well she ended up meeting this lovely scotsman, and now they too are planning their possible future together!
Yes Folks I believe Scotland is Lovers! I think I might have that put on a t-shirt..hmmm..
