A trip down Memory lane...

Recently one of my Aunts finally joined facebook to keep in touch with the rest of us who are all over the place these days. She ended figuring out how to post all these old pictures which I have not see in a loooong time. They brought back some great memories and pointed out a few things I never noticed until this.

>This one was taken in 2002 of my Mom who passed away in 2004. The picture reminded me of how and when she ended up in that cast. It was kind of a funny story really. I came home from work and the door was wide open which was strange, Mom had been out mowing her lawn and had a small hill in the front, some how lost her footing and fell down. This is not the funny part,by the way..lol..anyway..she refused to have it checked, it took me, my Aunt Barb, and call from my Uncle to convince my Mom to get it looked at. Finally she went had her cast put on, and I drove her home that night, but she was tired and all on her pain meds, she couldn't figure out how to get out of the car in the house. She again refused help, she was a stubborn woman. So she decided to sleep in the car. I know...I felt terrible, I barely slept all night thinking about her in the garage, with the passenger seat all the way back with a blanket on her. She did allow me to give her a blanket. She had just got a cell phone and it was this old flip phone, one of the first ones ever sold in Nova Scotia, and it was 2002, so you can imagine this. Anyway, I was sound asleep when the phone rang,

Mom: "Shannon! This is Mom, I am calling from the car, in the garage.."

Me: Yeah ( all confused and I think thought it was a bad dream, that she wasn't really sleeping in the car)

Mom: I am ready to come in and I have an idea!

Finally we got her all settled in the house, I am pretty sure this was taken a few days later, she had friends in to keep her company and broke out the Hankle Tokien wine, on the back patio, she was a happy girl. Ah, it makes me laugh just thinking about it..
This one is a old picture of my Grandad and Nan, at their cottage likely when I was about 3 or 4 years old. Nan is thankfully still with us, she will be 85 next month and still going strong!

Looking at this photo though, I couldn't help but think this will be Paul and I when we get to their age. As a matter of fact Paul has a similar jacket to the one Grandad is sporting, he wore a hat similar to that in our wedding only black. Very interesting. Mom got her stubbornness from my Grandfather. Paul never had a chance to meet either one of them, but has heard stories from Nan and I about them both, and is always quick the point out I took have the Burns Stubborn Streak. Here I always thought it was just my Red hair!
