New Set of Wheels...

Some might say summer is almost over, but really the fun is not over yet!!! I absolutely love the fall, the cooler morning and evenings, the crisp smell in the air, and the changing colour of the leaves. That's why I decided it was now or never if I was going to get a new set of wheels. Now I am sure you are thinking "She went out and bought a car", Nope, I got a brand new bicycle!

I am sure this is not so exciting for some, but for me this is a huge deal. I have not owned a bike since I was about 14, there were the two bikes that got passed off to me by loving friends but I don't count those cause well, they were in such bad condition they didn't last long.

Since moving to Champaign we found that it can be cumbersome trying to get around via bus, or walking and after awhile I just want to feel the wind on my face, and sitting infront of the A/C just wasn't cutting it anymore. Paul got a new bike this summer, and he was really enjoying taking it out for rides, or to school, and part of me felt like I was missing out, but figured I would wait until I got into my job a bit and then maybe splurge. We all know how that goes, the time never seems to be right, and I honestly have wanted a bike for the last couple of years. It was now or never, so we walked up to the bike shop, Paul riding next to me on his bike, the plan was I get my new bike and ride off into the sunset with him, how romantic!

We get in there and literally there were maybe 50 bikes, total, I have never seen a bike shop so empty! Apparently I wasn't the only one that got the itch to get a bike this past weekend, he said they were so busy they sold out of most of the models. He offered to show me one similar to what I had in mind, and said it would take a few days for them to build it. Dashed were my dreams of riding off into the sunset. I told him I would browse around and make a decision about what I wanted and we would go from there. Finally there she was, my bike, I hoped on, it was so comfortable, light weight, and exactly what I wanted in about the price I had expected to pay. I told the guy this is what I want, he felt I should take a test drive. I really was not okay with that. See I haven't been on a bike for I would say 10 years or so, they say you never forget, but I doubt that. Next thing I know the sales guy is handing me a Brain bucket and sending out into the parking lot to practice. I hop on, and tell him I am nervous, he asks how long has it been, I just tell him a while. All of the sudden I am cruising through the lot, wind on my face, it felt soooo good!!!!!( I named her Bonnie Lass)
I felt like I was 10 years old again, and my step Dad took me to pick out a new bike at Canadian Tire for a "grading present", that excitement that Christmas came early!!!!

Paul kept asking if I was sure this was it, I kept reassuring him this was what I wanted, it felt like home. The sales guy tuned it all up for me, I picked out a brand new helmet, and rhode off into the sun with my husband. It was fantastic!!! Down the road when I get settled in my new job, I am going to have the baskets installed on the back!! Oooh! I am so excited!!!

Of course my Bum might not feel so fantastic tomorrow, it will be worth it!!!
