Village of the Damned.....

Tonight Paul and I decided to go out for dinner at this great Mexican place, which I have to say, made the best burrito I have ever had. Not to mention they have the best margarita's in town. Really I was going for the mango margarita. It was a beautiful evening so we opted to walk to the restaurant. It was pretty uneventful I must say.

On they way home we decided to walk around town a bit, and take our time making our way home to enjoy the spring evening. Next thing I know Paul is taking a detour. Taking me down this crazy back road, and there are boarded up building and dumpsters everywhere. I am thinking "okay are we going to make a crack deal or what?" He takes me to the game store. Now were aren't talking a video game store, that I can deal with. This is like a "Name your Own adventure" store. Where as we are walking in these three guys are walking out with their new "Jousting rods" I am serious. Of course I have to make fun!! So we walk in and Paul start's "Geeking out". Personally the guy behind the counter appears to be a complete douche, and I don't throw that around lightly. Paul starts speaking this whole other language I never heard before. Talking "booster decks and drafts and Magic The Gathering" lingo. I quietly move over to the board game section and browse the "Apples to Apples" and "Move the head of the class" which I have fond memories of playing as a child. I noticed these two younger guys there, checking out the cards, and discussing which one they need to "boost" their deck, and I couldn't help but notice, and come to find out later Paul was thinking the same thing, the one dude had fire red, long hair, pasty skin, and all I thought was "Jeezus, that is going to be my child one day". Paul as more proud of this than I.

We leave there and I am mildly scathed by the level of geekness Paul reached; but that is why I love him. From there we took my favorite route home, which is up the cobble stone roads, and the antique street lights. We really do live in a pretty little college town. Not far from our house is a Catholic Private School. Which is whatever, we live in the mid-west, which is fairly liberal as a whole but you find pockets of Conservatives. We notice the parking lot is full and figured must be a mass or something going on. As we walk buy, it was like it was straight out of the movie "Village of the Damned". Which if you have never seen is the creepiest movie. One of the classrooms have lights on and it was at ground level. We noticed a bunch of people in there, and there are a group of like ten little girls all dressed the same, blonde bob wigs, pink aprons, blue shirts and plaid skirts, watching Veggie Tales. (Does my description not bear an uncanny resemblance?) Freakish!!! At first I thought it was the margarita playing tricks on me, so I did a double take, and nope this was for real. These are the people in the neighborhood...Happy Friday!!!
