House of Tricksters...

Happy El dia de los Muertos! (Day of the Dead)

Another fun filled Halloween to add to the memory books. Paul and I went to a great party at a fellow student's place. Great food, met some awesome new people, which is always a treat. Paul went as a guy with an identity crisis, I went as my alter ego, Spinderella, not the DJ from Salt and Peppa,(maybe next year). More of a witchy woman.

Saturday afternoon I decorated our front porch with some fun spider webbing and tikki god pumpkin to ward off evil spirits and some cute lanterns, and the piece de resistance, a sound/motion censored tombstone that cackled and lit up when you hit the stairs. I have to say it looked good out there, sadly though we only had about 8 kids. Which is far less than last year. It was very cold and I think with so many kids sick with the flu and fear of getting the flu it put a damper on the festivities. So we turned everything off at about 7:30pm and went to a vineyard near by (30 minutes away) who was having a dinner theatre. It was a play co-written by the owner who we have sort of gotten to know, and his brother. It was inspired by Edgar Allen Poe, they said; it was called Coyote and it started off a bit slow but the second act was really good. It had all the Poe elements, insanity, blood and guts. The last scene the guy did cause it was essentially a one man show, was him eating a liver of what he thought was an elk but turned out to me a native man he met and shot the night before. (Long story) But whatever the actor was knawing on look pretty darn realistic to me. We were front row, and two other ladies at our out table looked like they were gonna loose their dinner. It was a great evening!!! We really had a good time. Wine was excellent that they make as usual, and no trip is complete without buying a bottle. Great location for a play like this too, cause you are really in the middle of no where, and it was pitch black when the lights were off. Paul said he could hear dogs maybe coyotes in the background a one point as well. Some were sound effects some weren't.

Today was more low key, I took down my Halloween stuff, which always makes me a bit sad. We tidied up our place and went to get groceries and it was like they waited for 12am to hit and rolled out Christmas. Creepy. I like Christmas but sometimes you just want to be slowly lulled into it, not IN your face. When we got home it was already dark thanks to the time change, and Lola had left a present at the top of the stairs for Paul. All I heard from the bottom of the stairs was"Oh great..(dread in the voice) Lola left us I gift, oh I though it was real!" Come to find out it was her toy mouse and he can't see that well on the best of circumstance, we were both relieved. Good trick played by Lola Kitty though! While I was unpacking the groceries we had just bought one of those totes to hold our extra Halloween stuff.
Paul: Did you put something in that? I picked it up and felt like there was something in there?

I thought I had better check as we have been known to forget perishable groceries before. So I do diligence and open the container only to get the crap scared out of me! There was Lola inside the container looking up at me. LOL! Yup, Paul used our innocent little kitty to scare the crap out of me and her cause I screamed so loud at the shock.

Happy Halloween Everyone!
