My Critique of the Week...

This week flew by! Here it is the beginning of October already! Where does the time go? It was another eventful week, I must say. Since giving up Cable a few months ago, Paul and I spend way more quality time. We eat dinner at the table now, and talk about our day, before he hits the books again, we take our Saturday morning bike rides now that I am off on the weekends. It is really nice!

Earlier this week Paul was home study all day while I was at work, and by the time I got home he was ready for a break, and it was a beautiful fall evening. So we decided we would walk over to the library, and run a few errands while it was still day light. When it get's dark here, its get freakin dark! Only the main streets are lit, and that's cause it's part of an interstate, the side streets except ours are pitch black! Kind of creepy when walking alone, which I did once and won't do again. Anywho, it was about 5:30pm we were deciding what to do for dinner. Paul suggested we try this little greek/american restaurant over in our neighborhood. It was lined out the door! We though well hey it must be good! So we wait patiently in line, with all the other hungry patrons and the band. Apparently they hired a band to play that night. As we crept closer to the front I noticed the hostess was no where to be seen and there were plenty of tables open that hadn't been cleared. We thought okay they must be busier than they thought, and didn't have enough staff. My stomach was growling loudly at this point since I hadn't eaten since lunch which was at 11 am, and I will admit when I get hungry I get really surly, and then I past surly and get down right ugly! At this point I was surly, trying to hold it back. Finally get a table, and it was freezing cold in the restaurant, some guy runs by our table and tosses menus at us, then leaves. A waitress drops by 15 minutes later takes our drink and appetizer order, then tells us that there are only a few items still available off the menu as they are closing their doors on Friday due to the economy. Okay I felt bad now for being cranky, here they are closing and no staff. She takes our order which I ordered grilled chicken, and the only sides available still were homemade potato chips. No salad , no rice, no vegetables, nothing. Alright at least I could still eat the chicken breast. About and hour later our appetizer comes out, I am not kidding, she drops it off, and we had ordered "vegetarian greek nachos", then she leaves. Paul looks at it, asked me what these brown things were on top. Turns out they had loaded it with LAMB!!!! Last time I check LAMB was not a vegetable! I don't eat meat other than chicken or turkey and let me tell you after this night I might not eat much of that anymore. We finally track her down she takes the dish away, it was another hour our main dishes come out. Paul ordered spinach pie, they were all out so they substituted it for frozen from Costco spanikipita, which we could have got at IGA for a lot cheaper than what they were charging us. She then tells me they ran out of chicken breast, and they substituted it for a half chicken, and tosses it at me. We were both furious at this point, hungry and taunted by the Food Network Channel on above our heads, while we waited two hours for our food that neither of us ordered to come out! I can't eat chicken like that, it was greasy ,all dark meat, nasty stuff. She drops our bill of and Paul tells her that I couldn't eat the chicken, so she offered to take it off the bill. I told her since we have not wasted 2 and half hours of my life that I won't get back and was still hungry, that I just wanted to leave not to worry about it. But she insisted so we let her take it off the bill. She then disappeared with our debit card for 30 minutes! I was watching her swipe it over and over again at the machine, by now I has surpassed the surly and ugly stage and was becoming savage! I told Paul she was just swiping our card over and over again her and some lady at the bar, that he really should check it out. Nope he wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. Finally after spending 3 hours there, and still not gotten any food, someone was about to feel my wrath. I quickly realized the economy was not the reason they were closing, piss poor service was!!!!

Two days later, I come home from work, and Paul was at the door meeting me, asked me how my day was and such. Then says, "Okay now don't get mad, but I looked at my bank account on line and it shows the restaurant had charged us three times for three different amounts." All was straightened out in the end. Needless to say I get to pick where we go next.

AUGH! That sucks! Nothing worse than a bad experience and then a reminder of it!
