Finally the big day arrives, Momma Butler was busting out the fine china, getting the turkey, ham and all the fixins ready. There was in total 7 adults and she had enough food to feed 15 at least! I was amazed by the spread! I thought my family went all out! Then everyone starts arriving, in walks Kasey, he says hello and then follows with "You bought a KIA!" I explained to him it was a rental, which made him calm down thinking I didn't have a choice. I could hear Momma Butler laughing in the kitchen, she was in on my little secret. AH! I love the holidays!!!! After dinner Paul's brother Brad was saying how he and his wife Melissa had been going into this store every day for the past month entering this contest to win Jacob their 8 year old, this ATV that was worth a thousand bucks. The catch was you had to be there for the drawl at 4pm if they call your name. We decided we would tag along we needed to get a few things. So the four of us and Jacob all put our names in the draw again. Then Melissa and I went back another time with 5 minutes to go. There was at least 200 people waiting for this draw. Melissa and I were trying to get Paul to enter the draw one last time. Paul just stood there, saying " It takes one to win, that is it." and refused to enter again. While we were waiting for the draw, Paul went to check out, Jacob was hanging next to me looking kind of defeated. All of the sudden they say, "Shannon here is going to draw the name, after we shake it up!" I looked at Jacob and say "Did you hear that?! His name is Shannon! That is a lucky name Jacob, one of us is going to win!" He just frowned at me, seeing all these people we wasn't to sure.

"The winner is PAUL B, blah, blah blah!!", Melissa and I Started screaming and jumping up and down and the boys were high fiving eachother, Jacob had the biggest smile on his face. I think he was still in shock truthfully. All the rednecks were not to happy with us..lol. Melissa looks at me and says, "I am a little worried about what happens when we walk out" She was serious! Thankfully no one lynched us. It was awesome! Made our weekend to see Jacob so happy! It was so exciting! Stuff like that never happens! Needless to say Uncle Paul moved up the favorite Uncle list.

As if that wasn't enough excitement I decided that I wanted to do the Black Friday sales. I saw something I wanted to get Paul for Christmas that was priced to fly out the door. So I used this as my opportunity to par take in the events. Little did I know how truly insane people are! Sure I saw the news as well, but seeing it in person people running others over for a toy and such crazy! It started off pretty tame. Paul and I found out that Macy's was having a sale on these stainless steel pots and pans. Regular $100.00, marked to $29.00, then I had a coupon from the paper, I am all about coupons, which would make it 26.00. They were set to open at 5am, and Target at 6am. Paul wanted to get to Target for something and the store I needed opened at 6am. Macy's had a handful of people lined up outside at 4:30AM! So that was fine we got the pots. You could see people camped outside Best Buy and Walmart! Both stores I hate and most days refuse to step foot in so I figure I am safe with the crowds. I dropped Paul off at Target and it was lined up around the building. I went to where I needed to be, it was lined up down that parking lot which is the size of a football field and down the back. I was down the back, thinking "Why am I doing this again?" They opened the doors, and people were trying to line jump, and the rest were ready to take them down for it! It was a MOB! Getting in the door you were shoved and pushed, this was for a hardware store. I just sat back and though well if I can't find what I need no big deal. I got ran down by more carts and giant lumber trollies that people were using for all the crap they were buying! I got in line finally, I stood in line 45 minutes. The man infront of me was so nice. I had my arms full cause I couldn't find a basket, and let me put it in his cart while we waited. He said his wife was at some mall that opened at midnight, and texted him at 4am to ask what her spending limit was, she has already made it to $1200! He said he was at Walmart before this place and people were physically tackling eachother for items. In the meantime, Paul is still at Target just trying to check out, he had been waiting over an hour. There were parts where it was sort of exciting getting these crazy deals and you sort of get caught up in the rush. But I can say I will never do it again. I wanted to try it once and that was plenty for me. I did get some other great deals, I got what I wanted for Paul and it was a steal. I managed to find a purse that I was eyeing two weeks ago that was marked at $48.00 which I will not pay, they had it marked down I got it for $12.00! Stuff like that, you savour, but I will not stand in line at 5am again.
All in all Thankgiving 2008. was very memorable! Happy Holidays!!!!
