Winterize this!

It was a busy weekend this weekend, I must say. Paul and I got a lot accomplished. Friday was a rough day at work, and Paul had a big presentation to give at school Friday afternoon, so by the time 5pm rolled around we were both ready for dinner and a drink. We decided to venture out to the local thai restuarant, which I was a bit reluctant to try, but it turned out pretty good! It was mighty cold here in Champaign this past week, so we ducked into the local watering hole called the Blind Pig to warm up for the walk back home, and did a little beer tour of the Midwest. We then rolled into the Cupcake place where they charge way too much for their gourmet cupcakes but who can say no to a cupcake! From there we bundled up and made our way home only to find it was 9:30pm and we were both exhausted, and ready for bed. Wild and Crazy Friday night in Champaign! Watch out! lol...

Saturday was a bit more exciting, we got up early installed all the storm windows, sealed the front door, you can tell we pay for heat here cause we are doing everything but hermetically sealing ourselves in to keep the heat in. From there we decided to assemble the tree. Mainly cause I knew putting the tree up meant I was putting the tree up, Paul steps in to do lights and ornaments. While I was growing up my Step Father had this old, old I mean old when I was young, and really old when Mom finally had to put it to rest in my mid twenties. It has the individual branches and you would have to put them on the pole one by one and they were colour coded, but the paint wore off so you would have to size the branches and put it together it would take forever. Last year we bought a fake tree, I though for sure technology was advanced this was going to be simple. Imagine my surprise to find it was all individual branches with colour coded stems. Yeah! This year it took me three hours which is an hour less than last year!

Just as I was putting the last branch in our landlord calls Paul and says he will be over in a half an hour to have us sign the new lease. We just moved in! Our lease still had 10 months! The place was in shambles with Christmas crap everywhere. Paul and I just looked at eachother, then ran in separate directions to pull the place together, I ran the vacuum, we did dishes, it's amazing what you can do when your landlord calls on short notice! So he gets here and you can see him looking around probably wondering where we hid the mess, and just made small talk signed the lease and away we went. Whew!

Now it's Monday, and I have a 3 day work week, yay! That's right its Thanksgiving, U.S. Style , four days off! So we can go shop and boost the economy! lol...Last year there was an unfortunate "Food Poising" incident which seemed to have only hit me not my friend Pam or Paul, interesting. So I missed out on the Black Friday Festivities. This year just cause I want to do it once while I live in this country, I will be out there with the rest of the world freezing our asses off at 6am, to spend my last dime on crap I really don't need but because it was so cheap I couldn't pass it up!

Happy Thanksgiving my American Friends and Canadian Ex-pats!
